Our History

CEO/ President Andrew Yap and Founder L. George Yap

In 1977, L. George and Einez Yap embarked on a remarkable journey that would shape the future of Leasa Industries. Newly arrived immigrants from Jamaica settled in Miami with little more than a dream and a determination to succeed. With borrowed funds from friends and family, they took a leap of faith and purchased a bankrupt company in Liberty City, FL, despite having no prior knowledge of the sprouts business.

Facing immense challenges and uncertainties, L. George and Einez devoted themselves wholeheartedly to the venture. L. George tirelessly worked an average of 16-hour days, seven days a week, while Einez attended business classes and maintained two jobs to support their family. Their resilience and unwavering dedication were tested as they navigated through the early struggles of the business.

In those early days, the company's financial situation was precarious. Despite generating a mere $175 in sales, the business incurred staggering losses of $30,000 within the first four months of operations. Yet, L. George and Einez refused to succumb to adversity. Fueled by grit and determination, they persevered, overcoming obstacles and laying the foundation for future success.

As the business gradually gained traction and flourished, L. George and Einez's relentless work ethic and commitment to excellence paid off. Through their visionary leadership and unwavering dedication, they transformed Leasa Industries into a thriving enterprise known for its innovation, perseverance, and uncompromising quality.

The company's namesake is derived from the first initial of each family member- Livingston, Einez, Andrew, Sean, and Allison. They named their last daughter Lisa after the company.

Unexpectedly, in 2005, Einez passed away, leaving a legacy of resilience, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit. Her absence was deeply felt within the company and the community she had helped build.

Today, the company is led by their son, Andrew, who serves as the CEO/President of the company. Andrew, along with other family members, continues to uphold the values instilled by his parents, driving the company forward with a steadfast commitment to excellence and integrity.

At Leasa Industries, our culture is defined by innovation, perseverance, and the invaluable contributions of our dedicated employees. We recognize that our success is built upon the collective efforts of every individual within our organization. It is through their hard work, passion, and unwavering dedication that we have become the company we are today—a testament to the enduring spirit of the Yap family's entrepreneurial journey.
